Bottom Line (23/01/2005 – 10/02/2005)

    The requested price was 40,000.

    This price didn't say anything about the audio system

    At the time (Feb/2005) the price list at Itzhak Levi said 22,000. The price list at motorcar said 20,000.

    After negotiating, we agreed on 42,00 including the audio system, which at the time a new one would cost 5,500.

    The car tests at DinamoMeter  revealed a bunch of defects.

    We went to the Peugeot-Citroen car garage near by (Bar-El) in order to get an estimate on the amount of money involved.

    Total: 7000NIS!!! And this didn't include all the little stuff, rather only things that were considered "safty issues that must be fixed". The list of "must-be-fixed" can be found in the yellow page, within my green 106 rally notebook.

    Roy and I settled on 38,000, final price.

 

Executing the Deal (11/02/2005)

  Friday, 11.02.2005, we paid Roy 38,000 (actually 37,900 because of the initial 100NIS we gave his father Ilan in order to show our seriousness).

  KM: 87,100.

  At first, the condition was almost excellent despite the test results. On my way back from Ramat Efal, the engine shut-down unexpectedly twice during a regular cruise. In addition, there was a sense of rigidness in general… besides that it was great.

 

Placing the Car for my First Garage Session (13/02/2005)

  We decided to fix EVERYTHING! Sunday, only 2 days after purchasing the car, we entered the garage.

  In addition it was time for a 10K treatment.

  It is important to mention that the car was 100% - Throughout Friday/Saturday we drove all around 150 KM without any problems – superb performance and joy!

    We agreed with Yossi that we'll pay him 6000 NIS cash, without a bill, and the rest with (2075 NIS)

    This means that we paid for the whole treatment 6000 + 2075 = 8075 NIS!!!

Clean Ram Air filter (15/04/2005 – 89200 km)

Replace Tires (06/05/2005 – 89550 km)

Replace the old tires (since Jan. 2001) to Maxxis tires. No front adjustments were done because it was done right after the accident.

Total damage: 1400 NIS.

Afterwards, since they screwed the Nava, I had to find bolts with proper length (since I have spacers). I found in Ribal street in TA. 8 bolts cost me 200 NIS.  I bought additional 4 bolts to prevent wheel theft, but they were too short (I still have them – they cost 200 NIS)

Replace inner door trim (20/05/2005 – 90000 km)

Removed the old black cloth, bought new blue leather (120 NIS) and glued it.

 

Paint Seat Plastics (08/10/2005 – 93500 km)

notice that it isn’t perfect… 2 plastic replacements were ordered from Yuval Melamed (Sparco).

 

Polish/Wax (22-26/10/2005 – 93800 km)

We bought some product in Germany (shown in TV) that did miracles. After washing the car with water & soap it looked great. But when we used the product (120 EUR for a liter of this product. We bought a bottle by 20 EUR) we realized that were looking at a yellow-white shade all this time.

Paint Side Mirrors (ongoing process)

This was an extreme long process which span over several weeks… Here’s how it looks:

Tailgate Job (27/10/2005 – 93800 km)

Somebody bumped into us, probably while we were parking. Mo severe damage, but this is a chance to do some tailgate smoothing. An immediate requirement is to do tailgate solenoid – the tailgate will open electrically with a button push.

 

Here’s the damage [before]:

Electrical job price: 500 NIS

Electrical job location: “Radio Hasharon”, Kfar Saba (a nice guy named Barak Melamed)

 

Next, we had to smoothen the tailgate. The job was done by “Autofix” in Herzlia – they are the best in the market. They specialize in body work repairment. This is all they do.

Price ranges for this kind of job: [400 – 800] NIS, including taxes. I paid 1000 NIS, 466 in Visa and the rest in cash.

 

 

Cleaning the Engine Hood (03/11/2005 – 94050 km)

It was really sooty… We used oven oil remover and the stuff from Germany (Nano Gloss). After wards we added some stickers (some are still missing). Here you can see some before/after images.

Engine Oil & Filter Renewal (06/11/2005 – 94100 km)

Engine oil and filter were replaced when I bought the car (87250 km). This means that almost 7000 km passed since then. It’s time. According to Haynes, we should replace the oil and filter only after 10000km, but Peugeot recommends that under heavy duty, hot and moisty weather and dusty air, it should be renrewed half the time (i.e. 5000) so we used the average (+-). This is the schedule for most of PSI members…

The tires were already replaced at 06/05/2005 (89550 km), but through all this time they weren’t licensed. Licensing was done in Dinamo-Meter (Machon Rishui).

Buy a Used Rear Spoiler (21/11/2005 – 94350 km)

I bought a used rear spoiler that was installed on a 106 XS. I bought it from a Perukia in Rishon Lezion – Yazdi Brothers.

Condition is not that good, but a new one would have cost 1800 NIS, excluding taxes.
